She was my first pony. Buttercup was blond and beautiful and confident… everything that I was not. Buttercup was an unregistered, 54” palomino pony. I showed her at open shows and in 4-H. Her lope was not slow. In fact, we were pretty sure that she kept trying to find the “front” of the “race” going around and around in the show pen in the western classes. At one open show, way out back in an open field, she managed to dump me. As I lay on the ground, she didn’t leave my side. There are horses and ponies loved as much as Buttercup, but no horse or pony has ever been loved more than Buttercup. She was my whole world.
